Their debut album ‘Idyllic Land’ was released in 2000. This album incorporates an array of traditional North Eastern instruments like the caan, (a pipe instrument) the pien, (a three stringed instrument similar in sound to that of the mandolin) and the bonglan (which resembles the xylophone) fused with Western instruments.
The inspiration for ‘Idyllic Land’ was drawn from the artists’ experiences during their journey from their traditional and once sustaining land, to the harshness of the big city where human lives are dispensable. However, for different reasons people make this journey in search of utopia only to find that they are lost in the time bound chaos of modernisation.
Sudsanan’s recent album entitled ‘Writer’s Block’ has again mixed modern and local traditional instruments to create a more rhythmic sound than their debut album. It explores the intrinsic and interconnected relationship between nature and people, and the effects on humankind as this link is severed.
As active members of the Chiangmai Independent Artists (CIA) group they are featured on many compilation CDs which are produced to inform the public about various social issues.
